Get Involved

Join the Movement for Change!

We are challenging all New Orleanians to get involved in the largest rebuilding effort in the country by joining this revolutionary movement.  In order to sustain the progress that has been made, the community must be engaged, informed, and involved.  Here are a few ways that you can support this vital reform effort:

Stay informed

  1. Read the 2008 State of Public Education in New Orleans report, which was produced by the Cowen Institute in April 2008.
  2. Click here to sign up for email updates from the Cowen Institute.

Get engaged

  1. Serve on the board of a local public charter school.
  2. Lead a school
  3. Teach at a school
  4. Open a school
  5. Become a reading tutor.

Be an Advocate

  1. Talk to your circle of friends and associates and tell them about the good things that are taking place in public schools.
  2. Advocate on behalf of the city's students to the Legislature.  Sign up for the Cowen Institute's weekly emails on bills affecting education by contacting Nash Molpus
